Hunsdon Area Neighbourhood Plan – Referendum

YOUR CHANCE TO VOTE IN THE  REFERENDUM FOR THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN FOR HUNSDON ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2022

Hunsdon Area Neighbourhood Plan - November 2021 Submission Draft
Hunsdon Area Neighbourhood Plan – June 2022 Final Referendum Draft

Hunsdon Area Neighbourhood Plan was initiated by Hunsdon Parish Council and after hundreds of hours work by this Group and the input, support and passion of residents over the last two years, the Plan has been through a rigorous public process and is now ready to be adopted if the local community of Hunsdon vote by a majority for it in a Referendum on September 15, 2022. You can download and read the plan here.

The Referendum will be conducted by East Herts Council and will be like the local elections. They will send you a Poll Card for the referendum. A copy of East Herts Referendum Information Statement and further information is available here at the East Herts website.

Everyone who is eligible to vote should receive a Poll Card for the Referendum from East Herts Council. If you want to check if you are eligible to vote you can phone EHC electoral services on  01279 655261 but basically, every adult in the Parish who is eligible to vote in  local government elections  will be able to vote in the Referendum at the Village Hall in Hunsdon on September 15 from 6am-10pm and answer YES or NO to this question:

Do you want East Hertfordshire District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Hunsdon Area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

If more than 50% of the votes say YES, the Plan will become a major planning document which East Herts Council will have to use in deciding on all future planning decisions in the Hunsdon Area. The Plan covers the whole of Hunsdon Parish less the parts which were covered by the Gilston Area neighbourhood plan as shown overleaf.

A Vote “YES” gives local people a voice and means the planners and any developers have to listen to what is in our Plan.

We urge all residents of Hunsdon to VOTE YES by voting at Hunsdon Village Hall in person on September 15 or using a postal vote in the usual way. It is critical that after two years work on your Neighbourhood Plan we all get it over the final hurdle and not leave it to the planners and developers to do whatever they want in our Neighbourhood.
