YOUR CHANCE TO VOTE IN THE REFERENDUM FOR THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN FOR HUNSDON
ON THURSDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2022
After hundreds of hours work by the Hunsdon Area Neighbourhood Plan Group and with the input, support and passion of residents over the last four years – as well as a rigorous public process – the Hunsdon Neighbourhood Plan is now ready to be adopted.
The plan will only be adopted if the local community of Hunsdon vote for it by a majority in a Referendum on 15th September 2022.
We urge all residents of Hunsdon to VOTE YES at Hunsdon Village Hall in person on Thursday 15th September or by using a postal vote in the usual way.
It is critical that after four years work on your Neighbourhood Plan we all get it over the final hurdle and not leave it to the planners and developers to do whatever they want in our Neighbourhood.
You can see the plan in full on our website here.
Everyone who is eligible to vote in local government elections should receive a poll card and can vote in person or by post if they have registered for a postal vote.
The Referendum takes place at the Village Hall in Hunsdon on Thursday 15th September from 7:00am to 10:00pm and will ask you to reply YES or NO to this question:
“Do you want East Herts District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Hunsdon Area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”
If more than 50% of the votes say YES, the Plan will become a major planning document which East Herts Council will have to use in deciding on all future planning decisions in the Hunsdon Area.
The Plan covers Hunsdon Parish (less the parts which are covered by the Gilston Area Neighbourhood plan) as shown shaded in pink below.
A vote “YES” gives local people a voice and means the planners and any developers have to listen to what is in our Plan.
